One of the first questions people ask us when they see our apartment is “Where’s your TV?”. We usually explain that we don’t have one, that we feel just fine without one. We still watch DVD’s on our computer and download TV-series, but I hate TV, I don’t want to sit in front of a grey box and just hope there might be something good on. With my computer I can watch whatever I want, whenever I want and that’s not going to change. Who enjoys watching commercials? Maybe you do, but I don’t. I also don’t need to watch the news from TV, I read all the news from RSS-feeds and that way I can skip whatever I think is boooring.
Fact: there is absolutely nothing interesting on television in Finland. All the good TV-series are one or two years behind US, so you’re basically watcing ancient shows. Any good movies that are on you’ve probably already seen (three years ago). Finnish productions suck (just my humble opinion). Now some smart ass Finns think their “digiboxi” (DVB-receiver) will save them, because they can record the shows and watch them later. But they still get commercials and the digital broadcasts are not without errors. And the programs are still not any better.
